Do We Not Live In Dreams?

Krystalrae recently sent me this really cool necklace. It's such a unique piece, I didn't want to wear anything that would take attention away from it on its first outing. Do you ever feel that way about clothes and accessories? You know, treating them like they're new, honored guests to be shown off and around town when they first come into your possession? I also decided to play in contrasts: the modern, asymmetrical necklace offered a perfect bit of edge to the dainty blue dress and heart print socks.
The socks do make me feel rather trendy when worn with open-toed shoes, but they ended up being very practical and protecting me from ant bites! This particular location is swarming with ants, bees, and humming birds. I think it is the blackberry bushes that are blooming and drawing all the critters out. I really like living places where you can go pick blackberries for free...

ASOS dress
Betsey Johnson socks c/o Modcloth

gorgeous necklace...so complicated and unique. I feel the same way about accessorizing a new, bold piece into an ensemble.

I will always be so envious of those shoes. I ALMOST bought them way back when from Urban but missed my shot. Such buyers regret. they go with anything!

I love the necklace! You did a great job styling it :) I do treat clothes like that. Everytime I get a new patterned skirt? Have to wear it with a plain top and basic shoes. Then three weeks later I am pattern mixing and layering tights and socks lol funny how bloggers can really think alike at times.

ooh, i miss free blackberries. there was a huge bush behind my apartment when i lived in portland and i used to go out and pick them for my morning granola! so fresh & so sweet :)

also, that necklace is substantial! i love it!

Blackberries grow like weeds in the pacific northwest, and for most of the year there are weeds, because you just get stuck in all the prickly branches! But when they appear in my yard I never try to get rid of them because of the few weeks in July/August when they are full of deliciousness. I've been scouting for bushes in the area now that they're flowering, and once the berries are ripe hopefully I'll be able to gather enough to make a pie!

They make great photo backdrops too :) Gorgeous, as usual.

Your hair looks so lovely up like that - & contrasts beautifully with the bright blue dress. Love this look!

While the necklace is without a doubt, fabulous, I couldn't see past the great dress with that out-of-this-world fit! Not to mention your hair color (is it redder than usual or is that just because it's actually sunny in WA?) contrasts so perfectly with the cobalt blue. Absolutely love it!

That colour looks amazing on you, and I love your hairstyle!!

what colour do you use to colour your hair?? it's so beautiful and exactly the colour i want my hair (as right now it's not far from it) but not as bright and shiny

It is a great necklace, and your hair color is looking particularly stunning lately. Very red in the summer.

Goodness, Rebecca--you're adorable! That dress is my favorite dress of all time. It reminds me of a Betsy Johnson dress I coveted a few years ago and even had fevered dreams about (I know that's a slightly ridiculous and sad thing to dream about!) And I think your necklace is gorgeous! It reminds me of the 'boat' rides at carnivals and amusement parks where you sit in a fake boat and it swings like a pendulum.

That necklace rules. It looks like it's a control switchboard or something, like Darth Vader's little button-covered chestpiece. Maybe one button can be a jetpack, another could be like, flame throwers coming out of your wrists, another could play your theme song, and the last would summon a drink for you out of thin air. That is, if your necklace were adorned with buttons... that did stuff...

ANYWAY it's actually your hair that stands out to me here. It's so red!

@Anonymous, the winner has received notification via e-mail. I don't always announce my winners and I never announce them immediately b/c some people opt to not accept their prize and then a new one has to be chosen and I'd rather not annouce things twice! Anyway, the winners are always contacted privately and directly by the info they leave; if they don't leave any info then I would announce a name to clear things up.

lovely look! I especially love that sock/shoe combination.

Is your title by chance a reference to the Franz Nicolay song? If so, amazing taste! If not, where's it from?

Blackberries are best off the vine, bought at the store just doesn't taste right. Love the necklace, the asymmetry is very visually pleasing. (oh my god i sound like such a dork)
