What Will The Neighbors Think?

I absolutely insist upon my first house being polka dotted; on this I shall not waver! It would be like living in a Dr. Seuss book, no?

When I last decorated my room, I wanted to do it in polka dots, but my parents wouldn't let me :(

Haha what an amazing idea!
My boyfriend would never agree to it... I'd really have to weigh up which meant more to me, polka dots or him! Tough call! :)

What makes this house so great is the simplicity of the shape - if it had more gables or additions, polka dots would looks ridiculous. Instead, the polka dots are perfection.

Huzzah! I absolutely refuse to to entertain the idea of owning a normally painted house. I'm thinking bright purple with electric blue trim, but polka dots are a good alternative.

Ever hear of the Heidelberg Project in Detroit? That is what this reminds me of. It's a whole block of crazy houses. Some with polka dots, some with stuffed animals, some with dolls, etc. Most of the houses were torn down, but there are still quite a few standing.

Amanda said...

That is awesome. I would never have thought of doing something like that.

that is the cutest idea EVER!! now i'm thinking to paint dots on my room wall. hehe :0

thanks for always sharing inspiring ideas! :)

Search for some images from the Hiedelberg Project in Detroit, MI. It was a multi-block installation that takes the dotty-house theme to another level entirely. Most of it has been torn down in the last 10 years, but driving around Detroit you will always see dots painted on buildings in tribute.
