When I spot a style I like that is historically influenced I like to immerse myself in the films of that era. The first that came to mind was "The Great Gatsby" but I decided instead to look for films and actresses that were icons of the 1920s. Thus, I have decided for a Claudette Colbert and Louise Brooks weekend. In the following days I will be watching: Trouble in Paradise, Pandora's Box, and Imitation of Life. Now I acknowledge that these films starring Colbert are actually made in the 1930s, but she was herself an icon of the 20s and you really can't go wrong with this actress regardless of which decade you watch. Pandora's Box should be a more era accurate film.

Claudette Colbert is such an icon and a great reminder of the 1920's. And I love that purple skirt!
I too was drawn to the first Facehunter pick. I just LOVE her look. Nice colours you're wearing today!
The first outfit is great. It reminds me to an old 20's film.
I like this skirt.
I love how you've paired that purple skirt with the floral top. xx

i watched marie antoinette last night, and went to sleep wishing i could live in her room and dress like her. and i wished today that i had a perfect poofy dress to wear with a big hair.
i completely adore your floral top!
such a wonderful colours, it looks great on you.
ps. thank you for the camera info. i'm really searching for a new perfect camera.
Love the outfit, your top is amazing!
i never knew dr scholls had such cool shoes! and the green and purple look very good together! i generally avoid green and purple altogether cos they remind me of eggplants/brinjals and i don't like those hahah. but this looks good
Love your purple skirt. Its perfect for fall. Is there a lot of vintage stores were you live? Just wondering were you collect all these gems.
I absolutely love these photos!
Perfect colour/floral combination between the top and skirt again! and love the 20s for fashion inspirations, make me want to dig out my copy of The Beautiful and The Damned again.
I also fell in love with the first Facehunter picture! It's amazing!
your dress slash top is stunning!
When I saw the face hunter picture, I thought of how amazing the coat was! Especially with the bow!
& the print of your top is amazing. I like how you wore it wit a purple skirt! & beauitful photos :) The colors are so pretty.

i saw those two on facehunter too and they were the only ones that stood out to me
great idea,i love 1920's fashion.lovly outfit too,i love love love the bright colours and pattern of your dress/top xxx
Trouble in Paradise is funny! You can't really lose with Ernst Lubitsch films.
I love the 20s too...I'm sad that the new film version of Brideshead Revisited looks so butchered from the trailer. At least the costumes look nice.
The Great Gatsby is one of my most favorite books. I just got my husband to finally read it, & now it is his most favorite. :]
Imitation of Life is an amazing movie. If you ever need some good, classic movies to watch, let me know. Those are the only movies I watch & cherish; I've seen quite a few of them. :]
Absolutely lovely dear.
Just last week I read The Great Gatsby and it has put me in the mood for some 20's styling too...
I agree with you, the shots are very inspiring! xx
I love the 20*s style with the dresses and short haircuts! I also love the bright colours in your outfit!
I just bought some Dr Scholls flats for work and was pleasantly surprised how adorable and comfy they were. Now seeing your sandals, I've quite impressed with the Dr.
Have fun with your 20s inspire weekend!
This sounds like a great idea. The 20's weren't a super inspiring time period for me so I'd love to see what you come up with! Maybe it will totally change my view. Oh, and I reccomend reading the book The Great Gatsby if you already haven't. it's really good.
Good luck on your movie watching.
I posted abut that first girl too, I love her look (but would love to see what shoes she was wearing!). Enjoy your movies, I feel like raiding an old movie store now.
Lovely colors, cute outfit! :D
I'm a big fan of the hairstyles of the 20s.. And the whole attitude of that era.
Nice "POP" of color you have goin' on there =)
i love the combination.
Love the pictures and the 20s stuff. Louise Brooks is one of my favorite icons ever (I do have a picture of her on my banner).
And Pandora's Box is a good movie :)
Really nice choice on the color combo today! Looking great as usual!
i LOVE that top!
I love your dress-top and the cool colors. Purple, green, blue and gold like a peacock.
i love this fabric!!
a kiss!!
i wish i saw girls who dress like that everyday - how inspiring!
That first outfit is quite wonderful. I am now inspired to construct a similar head-piece.
Ah wish I was you, watching all those old movies. The costume in the great gatsby is brilliant.
Love that first girl's outfit, really inspiring.
You wear those purple tones so well, did you know that?
That dress makes a great top, I love how you do that! and enjoy your weekend viewing, it's sounds wonderful!
That dress/top is amazing!
Have fun with your 20s movie festival this weekend.
The colour of that skirt is beautiful! As are you :)
Those pictures are a great style inspiration. Oh, I just love old movies but I have a hard time finding them. I just watched Belle Du Jour starring Catherine Deneuve.
oo please report the films, I love the 1920s! and your skirt is an amazing color pop w/ the shirt, love it all!
I love the girl with scarf in her hair.
I am so in love with that first picture! The bow on the side of the jacket is definately something that I will steal/ be 'inspired' by.
I've always been fascinated by the 1920's because it seems to be one of the first times in history where women 'cast' off the shackles. I'm jealous that you have access to those movies, they look awesome.
I walked by a shop today called Daisy Buchanan and actually wondered if it had things inspired from that era, it was on the other side of the street and I was in a hurry but now I'm really wishing I would have peered in.
i just love how you indulge in things you find interesting. can't wait to see what those inspirational movies let you come up with outfit-wise.
today, you look just gorgeous. that top is perfect for you!
i love how you make your clothes so versatile. you look so cute!
you should def review the films you are indulging yourself in.
When I think of the roaring 20's I think of the scene in "Accepted" when the douchey frat throws a roaring 20's party and no one shows up.
Aw, those girls are stunning.
I really like first one, and the colors in your outfit today are great.
The pictures of the girls are fabulous. I love the first outfit. It has a real 1920's feel and I especially like the lace trim.
The colors in your outfit are so vibrant and beautiful. Such a wonderful post.
A winner.
You MUST rent The House of Eliott. It was a 3-season show from the UK that ran on PBS in the early 90s. It's about two sisters who open a fashion house in the 1920s and all the clothes in it are AMAZING! My local Blockbuster doesn't have the series (surprise, surprise), but my local library does (score!) and I'm sure you can find it on Netflix. You won't be sorry!
I love the print on your dress. I like how you paired it with the skirt
it's always the vintage/second hand clothes that are bright, quirky, and beautiful. you look fantastic!
Ooh that sounds fun! That makes me want to do something like that.. just choose a time period or actress/actor and watch a few movies! I loooove watching movies from Turner Classic Movies, American Classic Movies, the Independent Film Channel and Flix.
love how you balance out the bright print with a bright skirt, and it totally works! you've likely seen it, but I recommend It Happened One Night, for the movie itself if not so much the fashion:)
that flower print is so nice!
just dye your hair if you want to. if it doesn't turn out well you still can re-dye it to your natural color!
I love the 1920's. I think it is the most stylish decade!
And I am not planning another post like it at the moment, but I think I will do another one with readers style's so I will let you know when I decide becuase I adore your style!
Pandora's Box is a total must! I studied cinema at the University, so I studied it and watched it so many times...along with hundreds of marvellous silent movies ;-)
The Great Gatsby is probably my favorite movie and book, but all the other films sound wonderful as well. I wish I could have a mini-movie marathon as it's raining outside right now and I could do with something beuatiful.
ah saw the same pictures at facehunter and wanted to post them ... so you were faster !
I think the 20's were the best decade for fashion hands down. Everything was so classy and timeless yet unique and funky. I know we've been seeing a lot of flapper inpirations lately, but i'm waiting for it to really come back with a bang. I also love the drop waist, and it makes me cry a river that I can't wear it. Sadness!
'20s–'40s for me.
I love that color combo you've got on.
love those colors in your floral dress! and haha yeah i'm from pa- what area are you from?
I would have LOVED to live in the 1920's, women were so wonderfully dressed.
Lovely outfit!
watching 20s movies sounds like a great idea!
and i love the purple skirt. very cute.
