And Fairytales Seem More Real Than Reality

I like wandering around my campus (even in the blistering heat) and finding places with dappled sunshine that remind me of The Secret Garden. When I was little I was desperate to find a place like the secret garden--my own private, beautiful place. Now though, I think I would rather have a secret library. It would be ideal to have a library housed in a greenhouse, but I fear the humidity would ruin the books...

So gorgeous. I love your outfits.
Dappled sunshine is the best.
I am aspiring to take photos like yours.

Ooh I used to be insanely jealous of Belle's library in the castle in the Disney version of Beauty and the Beast. Stacks and stacks of books that would stretch all the way to the ceiling, shelves in domes...

Beautiful outfit (as always), I love your colour combinations and your shoes are too cute to actually put into words, they look comfy to :D

I love the colors in the outfit and the bracelets are cute. I think I would like a secret library, too--it could be air-conditioned.

I loved the dappled light in these pictures -- they remind me of this poem (one of my favorites, religious or no!):

13. Pied Beauty (Hopkins)

GLORY be to God for dappled things—
For skies of couple-colour as a brinded cow;
For rose-moles all in stipple upon trout that swim;
Fresh-firecoal chestnut-falls; finches’ wings;
Landscape plotted and pieced—fold, fallow, and plough;
And áll trádes, their gear and tackle and trim.

All things counter, original, spare, strange;
Whatever is fickle, freckled (who knows how?)
With swift, slow; sweet, sour; adazzle, dim;
He fathers-forth whose beauty is past change:
Praise him.

I love button-down skirts...seeing yours makes me want to go and wear my own (though sadly, those seem to have been lost many years ago).

Speaking of libraries, you should see my house. Hubby and I are fond of reading and end up spending quite a dough on books. So at any given time, there are some 1500 books in the house. We do give out a lot of books to friends, families and libraries, but we end up buying that many more.

I can see that you love the new watch. It's nice, and goes with a lot of outfits. Also, i am suddenly seeing a lot of yellow shoes all over.

I always used to look for a secret garden too! I was so bitterly disappointed that I never found one.

I grew up in an ancient house and there was a huge library, with colums, ancient furnitures, bookshelves and books, of course. And near the library there was even a chapel...all the other kids always asked me about my house, but for me there was nothing strange with it!

ooh I'm loving the watch! such a nice colour, it goes well with the whole outfit :)

I officially adore that watch!

I'm still dead set on having a secret garden when I finally grow up (when that will be I have no idea), but I think the garden might have to be on the roof of a building in NYC because that's currently where I want to live. Having a place of solace in such a busy city might actually be really nice though...

I love the pop of color your yellow shoes add and ditto on the whole scret garden fantasy. I moved to where I currently reside like two years ago but near my old building there was a walled enclosure with two small doors that were kept locked. They looked like the type of doors that would lead into a secret garden type of place and I remember I used to walk by and try to peak through the key hole. I hardly think it was a garden, but it was nice to think that it was.

discothequechic said...

love these images, can see the secret garden reference.

and well done on making it to the semis. must say, i think your dress is the most interesting.

and I am amazed by how much your readership has increased in such a small amount of time! how on earth do you keep on top of comment! ha.

Beautiful colours.
How about a secret library in a tower with lots of windows? That has always been my dream :-)

That flower bracelet is sooo cute!

The old adage 'blue and green should never be seen' flies out of the window. I love the outfit, you look like a little woodland fairy, love it

Carissa said...

the color palette is fantastic

Meg said...

I don't know whether you have a filter on your cam, or maybe it's the green trees and your clothes, but the effect is lovely. Green is definately a colour your rock well as a redhead (which I think you should definately keep as red rather than blonde! =) )
